Welcome to UHN Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Core Facility

The UHN BioNMR Core Facility is an open access research facility located in the Princess Margaret Cancer Research Tower in Toronto. The NMR Core Facility is equipped with Cutting-edge NMR spectrometers allowing researchers to

  • Characterize bio-molecular structures at the atomic resolution with exquisite details
  • Identify protein interactions with binding partners in order to understand their architecture
  • Study protein dynamic
  • Study protein post-translational modifications acting as molecular switches
  • Study structure-function relationships of biological proteins to gain insight into biological processes in relation to human disease
  • Screening of High-throughput drug-like leads for novel therapeutic targets
  • Study Metabolites of interest

The Core facility houses high-field NMR spectrometers equipped with cryogenically cooled probes (1H or 13C optimized) for enhanced sensitivity.

The core facility is overseen by Dr. Geneviève Seabrook- Staff Scientist and NMR Core Facility Manager.

Services

  • We offer free project consultation to discuss project feasibility (including sample preparation and NMR experiments) and offer expert advice.
  • We offer a full service for researchers who may not be able to perform their own experiments.
  • We train graduates, PhD students and post-doctoral fellows to run their own NMR experiments and we provide support for the data analysis when needed.
  • We collect, analyze data and send a full report when requested by the researcher.
  • The NMR spectrometers are available to internal and external researchers. The use of the NMR instruments independently is contingent upon training and approval of each individual by the NMR Core Facility Manager Dr. G. Seabrook.

FAQ

It will depend on the project. We will discuss the choice of the spectrometer once we understand the goal of the project.

We can screen a few thousands (~3000) of compounds in just a few days.

Please contact Dr. G. Seabrook.

Dr. G. Seabrook will provide the information at the time.

We have an on-line calendar. The access will be provided after confirmation of the spectrometers access authorization.

Dr. Geneviève Seabrook will provide training.
